Religio: Revue pro religionistiku

Religio is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal with high academic standards, published twice a year by the Czech Association for the Study of Religions in cooperation with the Department for the Study of Religions, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. The journal was founded in 1993 as the first scholarly journal focusing on the academic study of religions in the Czech Republic. In the area of central and eastern Europe, it has established itself as an important forum in the academic study of religions. Religio is listed in the ERIH (European Reference Index for the Humanities) and in the Czech government’s official list of peer-reviewed periodicals, it is indexed in the Index to the Study of Religions (Brill, ed. Katja Triplett). Religio: Revue pro religionistiku was also evaluated for inclusion in the Scopus citation database (Elsevier) by the Content Selection & Advisory Board with the following comment:

This is a strong journal publishing significant articles and with an impressive review and editorial policy.

The coverage of the journal in the EBSCO digital database Academic Search Complete is in progress.

Religio welcomes articles in English, Czech, Slovak, German and French by authors from all over the world. Important scholars in the study of religions have published in the journal, including Peter Antes, Martin Baumann, Luther H. Martin, Jacques Waardenburg, Donald Wiebe and Harvey Whitehouse.

The journal publishes articles, commentaries, discussions, documents, translations, reports and reviews relating to a wide spectrum of topics connected to the academic study of religions. Religio is open to contributions concerning any religious tradition, contemporary or ancient, as well as contributions that discuss theories, methods and approaches within the study of religions.

Czech Association for the Study of Religions

is an association whose aim is to promote the academic, non-confessional study of religions in the Czech Republic. The association publishes the journal Religio: Revue pro religionistiku.

Bid to host the 2015 World Congress of the IAHR

The bid by the Czech Association for the Study of Religions and the Department for the Study of Religions, Masaryk University, Brno, to host the 2015 World Congress of the IAHR in Brno, Czech Republic, was not successful, but the Executive Committee of the IAHR has thanked the officers of the CASR for their work on the application. We extend our thanks to the national associations (Austrian, Estonian, Latvian, Polish, Slovak, and Ukrainian), the ISORECEA, and Armin W. Geertz, Luther H. Martin, and Donald Wiebe, who supported us.
