About the journal
Religio: Revue pro religionistiku is an international peer-reviewed scholarly journal for the academic study of religions published twice a year by the Czech Association for the Study of Religions in cooperation with the Department for the Study of Religions, Masaryk University in Brno, the Czech Republic. The journal was founded in 1993 and since then, it has established itself as an important forum in the academic study of religions. Several leading scholars in the study of religions have published in the journal, including Peter Antes, Martin Baumann, Luther H. Martin, Hubert Seiwert, Kocku von Stuckrad, Jacques Waardenburg, Donald Wiebe and Harvey Whitehouse.
Religio: Revue pro religionistiku publishes articles, commentaries, discussions, documents, translations, reports and reviews relevant to the academic study of religions. It is open to contributions concerning any religious tradition, contemporary or ancient, as well as contributions that discuss theories, methods and approaches within the study of religions.
Availability and subscriptions
Religio is published in both printed and electronic versions (the contents of the two versions are identical).
The electronic versions of all issues of Religio since its inception in 1993 are freely available in the Digital Library of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University. Beginning with Volume 19 (2011), Religio is also included in the EBSCO digital database Academic Search Complete.
The printed versions of individual issues can be ordered at firstname.lastname@example.org. The price of one issue is 20 USD / 15 EUR including postage worldwide.
Subscriptions to the printed version can be made at email@example.com. The subscription price is 40 USD / 30 EUR per year (= the price of two individual issues) including postage worldwide.
Lists, databases and indexing
Religio is included in the Scopus citation database (Elsevier, from 2011) and listed in the ERIH (European Reference Index for the Humanities) and in the Czech government’s official list of peer-reviewed periodicals. It is also indexed in the journal Science of Religion (ISSN 0165-8794) and its cumulative database version, the Index to the Study of Religions (Brill, ed. Katja Triplett).
Religio was given a highly positive evaluation by the Scopus Content Selection & Advisory Board:

Religio adheres to the Open Access policy and publishes contributions in Libre Open Access mode under the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 International license. See more info on the conditions under which a published work may be used.
By submitting a work to Religio for consideration for publication, the author grants the Czech Association for the Study of Religions a license to his/her work, under the following conditions.
Authors retain the copyright for all the materials published in the journal.
Submission and guidelines for authors
Religio welcomes articles in English, Czech or Slovak by authors from all over the world. Contributions are evaluated in a double-blind peer-review process by at least two peers. Following this, the Editorial Board decides on publication.
